When I was first trying to narrow down the problem I noticed the line number was always the same, and pointing at the line defining the inferFromText function. The script referred to is always chrome://browser/content/browser.js. It does seem there are some pages which cause it to happen more regularly though. I've been able to find no pattern of when it happens - it happens on a multitude of different websites (including YouTube once) loading a website which crashed one day works fine another day, etc.

This happens pretty much once a day - I'm not sure I've ever had it happen twice in the same day it seems once it has crashed the first time it is fine for the rest of the day. After a period of time (maybe 10-20 seconds), I get an unresponsive script warning referring to a chrome:// script. All I can do is wait 2-3 minutes after which the process finally disappears - and I can reopen Firefox again. What happens is that, (with no consistency whatsoever), I click on a link / open a new tab and enter a URL, and a few seconds after the page starts to load, Firefox hangs and becomes unresponsive. The parent.lock file can't be accessed, and attempting to end the process in Task Manager does nothing. The Firefox process remains running in Task Manager, and Firefox of course won't reopen while it's there ('Firefox is already running' etc). In the end I need to force close the window. If I wait a long time, this process will repeat with the dialog reappearing. However, they're all of course inaccessible due to the dialog as soon as I click any of Continue, Stop Script, or Debug Script, everything hangs again. At the point I see this dialog, all websites in the background become active again - I see the current page load to completion sound from, say, a playing video comes through, etc. What happens is that, (with no consistency whatsoever), I click on a link / open a new tab and enter a URL, and a few seconds after the page starts to load, Firefox hangs and becomes unresponsive. reinstalling Firefox from scratch doesn't help running with a brand new profile doesn't help disabling hardware acceleration/webgl doesn't help

#UNRESPONSIVE SCRIPT FIREFOX YAHOO WINDOWS 10#

Ever since updating to Windows 10 on my laptop late last year (at least I *think* that was when it started, but I can't be positive - definitely wasn't before), I've been experiencing a frustrating unresponsive script error.
